Tactical Outsourcing Helps IT Managers Meet Data Center and Staffing Challenges with Flexible Capital Options.
Conshohocken, PA, February 2, 2009 – IPR International, a leader in data center and disaster recovery services, announced today that a premiere banking and financial services company, one of the top 5 in the world, has signed a multi-year contract with IPR for production data center space and managed IT services. Under terms of the agreement, IPR has agreed to maintain confidentiality of the identity of the client bank.
Data center challenges for the bank presented roadblocks to creating and delivering IT Services to their business customers. Capacity at both their primary and secondary data centers was reached far sooner than expected. Power and space concerns accelerated more quickly than the bank’s long range plan had anticipated. Adding to their dilemma, the bank recently acquired a brokerage business, bringing with it 600 servers that need to moved and managed.
The bank was challenged to find data center space meeting its stringent specifications, especially security. They undertook a formal selection process in which IPR prevailed against some of the largest data center providers in the world. The bank chose IPR based upon its critical needs and for IPR’s offering combined with price and flexibility.
IPR has a Tier III+ full service data center with ample space, power, and cooling located two stories below ground in a high-security building. This data center was built with redundancy in all areas and provides IPR clients with the security of one of the top recovery facilities on the East Coast. The facility is easily accessible to New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the DC area.
“Companies are faced with difficult data center challenges. They are running out of quality space and existing data centers were not built to handle the power requirements of high density servers. The expense of outfitting and operating a data center is significant. Personnel are an additional expensive component, especially if multiple data centers and off-hours staffing is needed,” says Marcia Wasserman, Director of Solutions Marketing at IPR. He adds, “IPR clients leverage the large investments in computing and storage infrastructure IPR has made. Some are freeing up existing space in their existing data center by moving non-mission critical, test and development systems to IPR. Rather than buying equipment and hiring the staff for their own data centers, some IPR clients are getting out of operating data centers all together, moving to IPR.” In addition to data center space, for complete data protection IPR offers Assured Recovery Services℠, a complete suite of managed services for disaster recovery and business continuity.
“To meet the shorter recovery time objectives businesses now demand, a dedicated infrastructure capable of replication and disk-to-disk backup technologies is required,” said Bruce Carlson, IPR’s Vice President of Engineering and Sales Support. “The common model of storing tapes offsite and recovering systems to ‘like’ hardware at whatever recovery site your provider offers doesn’t work anymore. IPR’s Assured Recovery Services provide clients a dedicated recovery environment at costs comparable to traditional, shared DR providers.”
